Position Title:	EHS Specialist
Reporting To:	EHS Manager
Role Purpose:	Working as part of the EHS team, working closely with the assigned business partners. The purpose of the role is to ensure that the highest standards of Environmental Health and Safety compliance are maintained through procedures systems and culture. To focus on agreed targets in managing risks that may lead to serious injury or environmental impact. The EHS Specialist will drive through communications all health and safety matters at the Genzyme Waterford site. The EHS Specialist will be required to interpret EHS legislation and recommend changes to company policy procedures and/or systems to ensure compliance is always maintained to the highest standard..

§ Support and develop EHS systems, i.e. See and Act, SI (Site Indicators), legislation review, JHA’s, risk assessments and department monthly EHS meetings ensuring adequate support is given through business partners.

§ Foster and implement safe systems of work and provide adequate training.

§ Build strong working relationships with assigned business partners.

§ Conduct comprehensive health and safety audits of complex facilities.

§ Provide support and direction in all safety issues including technical assistance and advice to Business Partners including Directors, Team Leaders and Team Members.

§ Support the OHSAS 18001, and ISO 14001 standard audits to ensure best in class.

§ Ensure that all documentation is completed in full to a very high standard.

§ Lead the site ERT (Emergency Response Team) and drive the development of the team through training and foster improvements through team dedication and commitment.

§ Drive a Health & Safety culture not only within the site but also on site capital programmes to deliver

Qualification:	§ Diploma and or Degree in a Health and Safety discipline is essential, a further 3rd level qualification would be an advantage
Experience:	• You must have 8+ years experience as an EHS Specialist in a manufacturing environment – of which at least 3-4 years experience has been in a secondary pharmaceutical environment.
