What originally brought you to Genzyme?

I had completed a science course in college and I was interested in getting into a pharmaceutical company- heard of this new company in Waterford- Genzyme!

How long have you been working with Genzyme?

I joined the company in January 2003, so just about 7.5 years

Please state what role you currently hold and any other roles you have had since joining?

I started working as an ‘Oral Dose Manufacturing Team Member’, where I stayed for about 2 years. I then moved into the Warehouse, where I worked as a ‘Warehouse Team Member’ for about 5 years. At present I am working in the Fill Finish facility as a ‘Fill Finish Team Member’

What keeps you motivated and inspired in Genzyme?

There is a lot of variety in Genzyme and you get the opportunity to move into different roles and different departments.

How much emphasis does Genzyme place on Training and Development- are there opportunities to develop?

Training and development is part of every day life in Genzyme, it provides employees with opportunities to move between departments which is crucial. I have completed many courses in house, including ECDL, First Aid etc

How is campus life in Genzyme different to anywhere else you have worked?

I would describe Genzyme as a comfortable working environment with excellent facilities for its employees.

What benefits that working in Genzyme provide you with, do you value the most?

Location- I am able to work close to where I live

Healthcare- Genzyme provide health insurance cover for myself and all my family

On site facilities- we have a good cafeteria.

Can you identify the top five reasons why you enjoy working with Genzyme?

The people- which speaks for itself, the nature of the business-, the location- its great to be employed by a local global leader, the facilities- great working conditions

Have you done any travelling for your job while working with Genzyme and how has this helped you with your role?

Yes, I have travelled to Germany for a MES project, which has given me a greater understanding of the process.

How does your manager/team mates inspire you?

They focus on getting the process and systems right and completely appreciate the significance of the products.

How have you been challenged in your role?

Every day we are faced with challenges, deadlines, schedules, filling orders- therefore teamwork is essential.

What do you like most about your role?

Interacting with people on a daily basis. You can manage your own time in the most part and prioritise your daily tasks.

What have you discovered about Genzyme that has surprised you?

There is a feeling of trust here by managers, you prioritise your work and get on with it!

How has Genzyme helped you achieve a work/life balance?

The number of holiday hours allocated each year. The company also facilitates a time for time policy and there is great flexibility.
